Plot:

 

Single mum Taylor gets sacked from her job just before Christmas, just as her daughter is accepted for a place at a swanky resort for ski boarding lessons. 

Taylor discovers staff members at the resort get half price fees for the lessons, only snag is the only job opening is for the resort’s Santa Claus.  

Review:

 

This movie has a lot of good going for it. It’s not such a formulaic premises as some other mass-produced Christmas romance movies.

It’s more a Mrs Doubtfire meets Christmas. 

 

Yes it’s predictable, but don’t we all want a bit of festive escapism at this time of year?

 

It’s as sweet as a candy cane with a beautiful backdrop of snowy holiday resort.

 

A contrasting of lifestyles between the son of the owner of the resort (not surprisingly also the love interest) and the down on her luck single mother struggling to make rent. 

 

Yes, there are some plot holes, such as not realising Santa is getting discounted lessons for someone else’s child, no checks on Santa before employment. But come on everyone its Christmas! 

 

It’s definitely another strong Christmas romance movie from Netflix. With the added bonus of indulging in a bit of teenage me nostalgia of seeing Tia Mowry as part of the cast.
