My Personal Views
So this movie has been in my collection for years, I must have bought it because it was a bargain as it also came with His Girl Friday. Only thing is that I’ve never watched either of these movies in the whole time I’ve had them. I think I’ve had them since I was at University, and I finished at Uni two and half years ago!
So here is my first impression of The Amazing Aventure.
I am a great fan of old movies and I have also watched my fair share of Cary Grant movies over the years so I was actually looking forward to watching this movie and I wasn’t disappointed.
This movie is quick (only 1 hours and 2 minutes long) and holds your attention throughout. It is also the classic format of hidden identity, fall in love, misunderstanding/hidden identity revealed and a happy ending. I LOVE IT. It reminds me of Fred Astaire and Ginger Rodgers films or Rock Hudson and Doris Day films which I also love also. I wish I’d seen it sooner to be honest.
Maybe it is not an 'Amazing Adventure’ by comparison to today’s movies but I still really enjoyed it. The acting by everyone involved is also very good. But maybe this movie is not for you if you don’t appreciate older movies or you would rather all black and white movies are made colour. If you are a fan of Cary Grant and black and white movie you should watch this (if you haven’t already). It is no way as compelling as An Affair to Remember but certainly makes a good first impression. With this only being just over an hour long even if you don’t appreciate this movie at least it has only been an hour of your life unlike some of today’s movies standing at over two or even three hours long.
Additional
My apologies once again for being slow at writing this blog. I think I have made a new resolution to watch (and blog about) at least one movie every weekend though. But last weekend that new plan went straight out of the window, instead I spent the weekend with two of my best friends in the whole world. One of them is pregnant and it was lovely to see her, I am so happy for her and wishing her all the best. But I’m back now, and hopefully I can keep to this new resolution to be a better blogger.
Outcome
To be honest at the moment I’m not sure. I will watch it again though and hopefully get around to watching His Girl Friday which is on the same disc. But whether or not it will stay permanently in the collection I do not know at the moment.
